OAKHURST RECOVERY DEPARTMENT LEFT ME OUT TO DRY

Oakhurst Recovery Department did not do their job to the best of their ability. In fact, as far as I can see, they just waited out their time ( 1 year) to give me the feedback of: " You may proceed to take action against 3rd Party as we could not succesfully contact person". WHAT THE HECK IS THAT?! Story: Man reversed into my daughters stationery car (2017) and we had to pay R11 000 excess , so long, because recovery team will sort out the reimbur*****t from the guy's insurance. We gave them all guys details. We were instructed to have no contact with the guy. Guy had NO damage to his car (bull bar). You had a job to do. Not phone me after 1 yr and tell me that the 3rd party is BANKRUPT, as if you're trying to help out your Uncle. I contacted you several times via email, over the year, after not getting timeous feedback and everytime they passed my case on to different consultants ( 7 to be exact). Now, I am told to claim half of what is due to me, by going to Small Claims Court. I think its totally unfair and disgraceful, that you can do something like that. You don't know my circumstances, yet you feel sorry for the perpetrator. I trusted you as my Insurer and you have left me hanging out to dry. You have washed your hands of the case and so easily ket me know that " After many attempts to CONTACT 3rd Party..you are closing my file" How easy you make it for people who do WRONG, to GET AWAY WITH IT. My family and I are deeply disappointed. Lerisha Adonis

Dear Lerisha

We confirm that you had a claim for an accident that occurred on 8 August 2017 under your Oakhurst Datsun Financial Solutions Policy, which was authorised for settlement.

Oakhurst's Recovery Department attempted a recovery against the third party who caused the accident, unfortunately without success.

Our records confirm that you were adequately updated throughout the process, and were later advised the Recovery Department was unsuccessful with their attempt to recover your excess from the third party.

As the Recovery Department found that is is not viable to proceed with further legal action against the third party, the right of subrogation was handed back to you to attempt a recovery against the third party in your own capacity.

We apologise for the inconvenience that this process might have caused and the fact that you did not get a more favourable outcome. We can assure you that the consultants that attempted the recovery tried their utmost best to succeed.

Kind regards

Oakhurst Resolutions Team
