Not a Good Insurance company, Oakhurst Dont respond to emails and Bad Claims depertment: OVERALL NOT HAPPY CLIENT

I am with Oakhurst Insurance, since April 2016, keep in mind this is my first insurance company that I took for my car, and knowing this I would think Oakhurst would take care of me better as a first time insurance policy holder but they did not.

Now before I start with my complaints, let me give some background, this above mentioned insurance is my first insurance company I ever dealt with and the experience is not a good one, I never had insurance before so my premium and installment was high like R+/-1200 considering I was 25 when i took the insurance out, single (not married) and had no insurance before,

- My first bad experience was when I saw debit orders going off from policies I did not want from the start with Oakhurst (when i told them from the first first phone call I ONLY WANT CAR INSURANCE NOTHING ELSE, NO LIFE POLICIES NOTHING LIKE THAT) and when I asked that they should remove those policies and reimburst me for the money they took from me, they firstly charged me for not taking the policies and secondly paying my money back in parts when they clearly debit the money all together and please note this occurred the 1st or 2nd month that I was with them,

-Second bad experience with Oakhurst, it should of been my first but I am putting it second, they assigned me a Personal Portfolio Consulted to me that suppose to handle all my insurance queries/and policy needs "my direct contact to the insurance"...well she almost never respond to my emails, and when she does its like a week late or 2 week late reply, and I told her more than once that she should contact me between 5:30pm-6pm as my work entails me to be on the road between 8am-5pm therefore I requested her to contact me those provided times, but they still contact me 8am-5pm and then queries dont get resolved,

-My third bad experience, is actually the most recent, On 27 September 2017, I was a victim of a Hit and Run by a Taxi at a intersection in Wynberg, Cape Town, this incident happened on my way to work which was about 7:30-45am the morning, The taxi damaged my rear bumper and my left passenger door, the car can still drive and is fully functional (meaning it was not right-off) but it was badly scratched and damaged,

when the incident happen, it happened so fast that I could not get the details of the Taxi driver as he sped off,

I reported the incident to the Wynberg Police, and phoned my insurance for the Claim, and here is where it get interesting....Firstly they told me they will send me info to nearest Panel beater (which was about 20km from where I stayed) for me to get a quote...I proceeded to the recommended Panel Beater and when Oakhurst came back to me they told me the quote works out to R11500, and because I requested a claim from the insurance within 6 months from the time I took up the policy, I would have to pay R5500 access as per policy, then another R5500 because I am under the age of 30 "as per policy" and another R5500 for the general Access "as per policy" which come to amount of R16500 of Access that I would have to pay for the damages to be repaired, with this Oakhurst told me because my access will be more than the quote they WONT BE able to assist the claim and I SHOULD PAY ON MY EXPENSE.

Now as an insurance I would think they would atleast try to keep me satisfied and make some kind of deal where both parties (myself and the insurance) would be satisfied in where they will get me a better quote or atleast pay for the damages seeing that i pay already R1000 plus for insurance but they only came back to me with a "customer complaint type form" in where I should indicate my grievance

I refuse to fill out this form as they know my grievance already if they had bothered reading my emails I send them they would know, and the fact that I am still driving my car with the damages does not make things any better

THIS EXPERIENCE HAS LEFT A BITTER TASTE IN MY MOUTH AND I HAVE TOLD THEM BEFORE THAT I AM JUST WAITING UNTIL I AM 6 MONTHS WITH THEM, AND I WILL JUMP SHIP TO THE NEXT BEST INSURANCE THAT WILL BE SUITABLE FOR ME AND MY BUDGET

I WILL NEVER REFER THEM TO ANYONE AS I WOULD NOT WISH THIS EXPERIENCE ONTO ANYONE

Hopefully they will see this review and see how unhappy I am

Dear Qualyn

We wish to confirm that a formal response with reference of your Policy Documents and Underwriting Calls have been sent to you via email for a more detailed response and verification of same.

Upon our investigation we established that you were sold a Comprehensive Cover Policy which terms and conditions were comprehensively advised and agreed on telephonically.

Value added benefits were also offered and agreed on which you later requested cancelation of. We confirm that cancellations were actioned immediately as per your instruction and refunds due to you paid accordingly.

We confirm that all forms of contact were used to try and contact you on the contact details provided by yourself during the life of the policy. We sincerely apologise for any delays in communication and any inconvenience caused.

We have looked into your claim and the claims process thereof and confirm that the excesses app**** to the claim were in accordance to the terms and conditions of your policy as agreed to between the two parties.

The cost of damages as assessed appeared to be less than the excess that was required, hence the claim fell into excess.

We confirm that the outcome of the claim was fair and trust all is in order.
