Look for any excuse not to pay.
Oakhurst will look for any excuse to not pay out a claim. Apparently it is my fault that my vehicle got ****** even though the person who stole it has been convicted and sentanced to 8 years in Prison. Oakhurst thinks they know better than the courts. I am extremely dissapointed and upset by the whole way this claim was handled. None of the reasons for not paying were valid. MY VEHICLE WAS ******. That was not my fault, it was taken without my consent which is the definition of theft. I will be taking this further if it is not resolved interally.

We refer to your complaint posted on 09 January 2019 and confirm that the matter was previously brought to our attention on 03 December 2018 and a resolution was sent to you on 18 December 2018.
Kindly note that your claim was declined for more than one reason and these are as follows:
We refer to your complaint posted on 09 January 2019 and confirm that the matter was previously brought to our attention on 03 December 2018 and a resolution was sent to you on 18 December 2018.
Kindly note that your claim was declined for more than one reason and these are as follows:
NON-NOMINATED DRIVER
We confirm that you have a nominated driver policy as stated in each of the policy schedules sent to you throughout the life of your policy. It is stated therein that all drivers must be nominated on the policy to enjoy cover. During the verification of your claim it was established that the driver at the time of the incident, which you advised had ****** the vehicle or drove it without your permission, was your employee. He drove the vehicle more often to assist your father. The insurer has no record that indicates that you provided the required information to note him as a nominated driver on the policy.
LACK OF DUE CARE
It came to light that the keys to the insured vehicle were not kept in a safe and secure location, thereby allowing unconstrained access to your driver. We have concluded that you failed to take reasonable steps to prevent the loss and that you exposed the insurer to undue risk. It follows that any resulting loss falls outside the scope of cover.
NON-DISCOSURE
During the investigation of your claim it was found that you failed to disclose material information required in order to successfully underwrite your policy. As such, the insurer was not aware of the true existing risk and had same be disclosed, the insurer would have elected not to accept the risk at all.
We trust you find the above in order.
Please do not hesitate to contact our Resolutions office should you have any further queries regarding the matter.
