Household covered? Think again
I have had household and car insurance with Oakhurst for just over a year now My home was recently struck by lightning and my PC was damaged. The replacement value of the PC is over R14000.00 as it is a high performance gaming PC. I saved up for a long time to afford the PC that I really wanted and I thought I was securing myself against a devastating loss if anything ever happened to it by insuring it with Oakhurst. How wrong I was. I put in a claim and I have been informed that I am only going to be paid out R1000.00 as they only cover electronic equipment up to R1000.00. Where am I supposed to find R13000.00 to replace the rest of my PC? Why was I not informed that my desktop personal computer falls under this category? What is the point of having this household insurance in the first place if the contents are not covered? Trying to contact their consultants on the phone doesn't work. They don't answer their phones and they don't return messages - ever. So trying to clarify what you are covered for and what you aren't is virtually impossible. Oakhurst's motto is \We really care
