DOTSURE/OAKHURST: ************ ***** INSURANCE - IF IT SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE IT IS!!! DON’T BE DUPED

I have had the misfortune of purchasing motor warranty insurance with the above immoral incumbents. After DOTSURE aka OAKHURST INSURANCE an unknown co happily deducted premiums for cover within 10 days of an “over the phone policy” I had to submit a claim to them for mechanical failure. Provided all the info requested of me by 3 different people- the claims assessor (claimed control bushings for suspension are parts of the power steering components and therefore “rejected”) was highly *********** that the sales consultant had to intervene after same documents were requested 3 times with numerous follow-ups later- I received an interesting call from an “investigator” asking me about services on the historical invoices (acted as if he was confused and didn’t understand terminology) duped me to believe that he understood all and actually thanked me “for taking the time out to discuss” also confirmed standard practice for ALL claims (yes this co actually employs an investigator on a full time basis to get them out of their commitments to claims) my claim was rejected because the “full service history” I provided was not to their liking in terms of the “wording” on the invoices and motor plan documents. The policy outlined that service invoices would suffice as the service history so did the sales consultant in fact they received an even more detailed one from me including breakdowns from motor plan and 3 other RMI registered entities for all repairs completed on the car over the years.-the original policy wording described & referred to as “full service history “only no specifics on what the descriptions should be. Conveniently took my money for months without having once requested to me a review of my “full service history” or a normal assessment of the vehicle before the policy was finalised -ludicrous that their request only came WHEN IT WAS TIME TO HONOUR A CLAIM. I am still awaiting a response as to exactly what my R397 a month was for if my car did not in fact qualify for cover due to its incomplete service history-which simply put -I diligently paid for fresh air on a monthly basis. I also had to formally request a refund which would have been the commendable thing to do but they out to make a quick buck so it was not an option. This is a company that will send you 10 sms/calls to assess the “tone” of their service UNTIL YOU SUBMIT A CLAIM THEN YOU REALLY SEE THE PICTURE -the main purpose should be to provide the insurance cover that consumer’s pay- not 101 ratings on telephone manner! Instead they happily take your money and nag you for dubious compliments when in fact they do not even have any ethics to operate, lesson learnt: DO NOT TAKE OUT INSURANCE WITH FLY BY NIGHT INTERNET COMPANIES LIKE DOTSURE/OAKHURST - not even listed on the top 20 insurers in RSA stick to reputables- you pay the same BUT at least you know they governed through proper channels and FAIS compliant! In addition they REFUSED to refund me- which just proves they are a **** business out to make a quick buck

Dear Sandhya

After going over your complaint we wish to confirm that the first debit of your monthly was deducted as discussed and agreed upon during the voice recorded proposal phone call of this particular policy.

The investigator that you are referring to is actually our in-house technician. He assists with going over the damage to the vehicle, the claim documents and then advises whether the claim falls within the policy’s scope of cover.

We also refer to a letter that we sent to you on 18 July 2016 wherein we further clarified the insurer’s decision to decline your claim, as explained in the letter the claim was declined because you did not have a full service history for your vehicle and the invoices that you sent were repair invoices not service invoices.

Your monthly premium is actually R370.00.

As a sign of good faith the insurer will refund all premiums debited from your account regarding this policy. Our portfolio division will be in contact with you after the refund is processed and finalised.

We sincerely hope that the above is in order.

Kind regards
