Dotsure is the worse insurance company

I have been a Dotsure customer for the past 20 months . On the 2nd of may , I was involved in a vehicle accident whereby the rear end of my vehicle was damaged by a collision of 2 vehicles. I followed the normal procedure , reported the issue to the SAPS , Dotsure and obtained quotations from 3 RMI approved panel beaters. The damage was worth between 39000 to 45000 respectively from the 3 RMI panel beaters.

The assessor from Dotsure contacts me on the 17th of May, advising that the damages are worth R22600. Firstly the assessor , completed a digital assessment based on the pictures that I sent across to the insurance , the assessor assumed 1 of my PDC's were damaged and did not conduct a vehicle inspection . I was advised that I should order/purchase the parts from a service provider in Pretoria , despite that I am based in Durban. The initial quote for the spares was around R20000 and the assessor managed to reduce the price to R8600.

Today I receive a wonderful call , advising that my claim has been rejected due to additional excess and value of the repairs is lower than my combined excess.

This insurance company is the worst insurance company on the planet.

Why wasn't I informed of the procedure prior to this?

You have to continuously phone their call centre to get a response from them ... with an average wait time of 6 minutes before you can speak to anyone.

Their famous excuse is that they will get back to you which takes hours without giving a proper time frame.

The accident was not my fault , yet I am liable for an excess and I am also liable for additional excesses?

An absolute disgraceful insurance company.

Dear Kylene

We refer to your complaint logged on Hello Peter dated 21 May 2019 and wish to respond as follows.

You had a claim for an accident that occurred on 02 May 2019 under your Dotsure Name Your Price Policy. The excess applicable to your claim was correctly app**** and you were informed that your claim fell within the stipulated excess.

The policy wording read with the policy schedule contains the contract between the parties. Your policy documents were emailed to you throughout the lifetime of your policy and your excess structure stated therein.

We confirm that you have opted for a Comprehensive (Cash Settlement Only) Cover, whereby the Insurer would indemnify you based on what they would have spent on repairs to your vehicle using their preferred suppliers and repairers, in the event of a valid claim.

kindly note that the above process was followed to finalise your claim.

We trust you find the above in order.

Regards,

Oakhurst Resolutions Team
