claim without a payment

I called Oakhurst insurance & they qouted. I joined, monthly premium was R 2516 per month & they told that my vehicle was worth R485 000 , when my insured vehicle was hijacked . They offer ed R134 000 & after penalties of claiming before 6 months, My settlement fee was R89 000.

I refered their claims dept back to the recording of my qoute and finilisation, surprisingly even now I didn't get any feed on how much the vehicle is worth. They requested my call records , which mtn didn't provide.

In August 2016 they increased my monthly premium to R3225 and my insured vehicle is still at Zimra in Harare.

Since 2016 December tracker is debitting on my account. How long must I wait???? Oakhurst I need clarity

Dear lea442

We confirm that the insured vehicle is insured for market value and same will be considered for the settlement calculation in an event of a total loss. Your comprehensive vehicle insurance policy policy schedule also stipulates/confirms that your vehicle is insured for its current market value.

The consultant at the time when you purchased the policy advised you that the value of the vehicle depreciates. As such, the market value at the time of the loss may not be the same as it was at the time of the policy inception. We also advise that the insurer does not determine vehicles' market values, in your particular policy/claim we used the values as determined by Meade & McGrouther.

We confirm that your claim is currently pending due to the repatriation of the insured vehicle from Harare (Zimbabwe). We can only commence with processing the claim as soon as the vehicle is within the borders of South Africa in order to determine whether its repairable of if it is uneconomical to repair.

The Netstar tracking device was delinked from the Oakhurst account due to policy cancelation. A consultant from Netstar will be in contact with you shortly regarding the tracking device.

We trust you find this in order.

Kind regards

Oakhurst Resolutions Team

It is clear on the recording of the quotation and finilisation of insurance policy. The consultant mentioned that my vehicle will be covered for an amount above R450 000.
