Claim Pay out Twist - Oakhurst Insurance Company / Driven By AA
I am currently insured by Driven by AA / Oakhurst Insurance Company for the period of 3 years. I have 2 cars insured, building insurance as well as content insurance. My monthly premier is about R 2400 Pm. On 27 December 2017 after returning from my holiday I found the water supply at the washing machine burst and the kitchen floor as well as the bottom section of my cub boars soaked with water. I called Driven by AA / Oakhurst Insurance took photos and laid a claim. On the 27th December 2017. It was agreed by Driven by AA / Oakhurst Insurance employee Aloma Nolan after reviewing my policy / contract that I’m covered The whole of Jan 2018 passed - I called numerous times Aloma Nolan and a total of 24 Emails was send to Aloma Nolan. To get direction on a process forward as the kitchen developed a rotten smell and I have a baby in the house. - In Feb 2018 I was instructed by Aloma Nolan to get quotations for the possible repairs on the kitchen - I got two quotations with the one at R32000 and the other R27000 (the contractors stated that because of the damage to the bottom section and the rotten smell and swelled wood it needs to be replaced and due to the older nature of the cub boards it’s not possible to replace only sections. Thereafter a loss assessor was appointed by Driven by AA / Oakhurst Insurance – he came to my house to assess the situation at the end of Feb 2018 and more or less agreed, he also stated that the cub boards are not in perfect condition prior to the water damage but said that the water damage is noticeable the damage to the floor tiles witch I did not even claim for is noticeable. On 12 of March 2018 I received confirmation that I will receive from NCA (CHRIS FOUCHE) they agreed to pay out R 3800. Now this is not even the replacement of one cub board. NCA (CHRIS FOUCHE) confirmed that I am not under insured - the excuse Driven by AA / Oakhurst Insurance came up with was that the cub boards was not in perfect condition prior to the incident, yes I agree they are old but there is major damage. So why did they insured me then????? So therefore they deducted a percentage of 80 % from the cheapest quotation. Please advise me on what to do next if there is any one that can assist – I have spent more money on phone calls to Driven by AA / Oakhurst Insurance than they pay out they gave. My Name is Rody Samuels **********
