Blatant ******* quote and bad service

A stone cracked my window on Sunday so I had to start the tedious process of replacing this. I phoned Oakhurst to log the claim and the initial service was very good. I was then handed over to the repair centre 24Fix. Despite logging the claim as a drivers window I was then contacted 3 hours later to confirm which window it was and was once again confirmed the excess amount of R500 (20% of the value). 24 hours later I has to recontact the insurance to query why I had not been contacted again. Since Sunday the vehicle has not had a drivers side window and is extremely vulnerable to theft and I cannot go anywhere with it. An hour later I was contacted again with a new quote stating the excess is now R1050 as the only window available costs R5000+. I refused this and contacted Glassfit and PG Glass who both quoted me less than R2800 to fit this. I fail to see how an ordinary person can get a better price than a industry insider who must be getting discounts. This is surely a way of just passing the cost on to the consumer even though I have paid for this in the monthly premiums. An absolute terrible experience with this company as the after sales service leaves a lot to be desired

Hello cdadman,

We sincerely regret the inconvenience caused to you.

We are always mindful of the excess portion that our clients have to pay and for this very reason we attempt to keep repair or replacement costs as low as possible. In this instance our preferred service provider did not have a window for your vehicle in stock and therefore it had to be ordered directly from the dealership. This resulted in a substantially higher quote than the initial quote. Subsequently both you and us obtained lower prices for the replacement from alternative glass suppliers.

The delay with PG Glass was apparently due to their internal processes and unfortunately, because we do not have a standing agreement with PG Glass, we are unable to control or comment on their services. We can however confirm that your window has now been replaced.

Should you have any further queries regarding this matter you are more than welcome to contact Charney in the Resolutions department who will be glad to assist.

Kind regards,
The Oakhurst Team
