Billed for what?

Checked my bank statement to realise that you are charging me for kilometres and debiting lots of amounts from my account every month while I told you that I was not clear about this kilometre charging thing. Please replay all our telephone discussion and you will pick up that I questioned the top up charge and asked why I should be charged additional amounts over and above the premium amount and never got clarity. Replay all the telephone conversations please. I sent email below and never got written feedback on it. I still am not clear and never agreed to any rule allowing you to charge me additional money over and above the premium. I just checked my bank statement and found out that your organisation in one month charged me multiple times, R1000 plus R120 plus R850 all in one month. For May I was charged R1000 and now just got an sms that there is an additional amount of R3098 that will be debited. What hell is this? I literally paying over R5000 per month for insurance! I am taking your organisation to the lawyers and need access the recorded conversations. I am beyond disgusted and instructing you to cancel my insurance with immediate effect. Cancel now! I will inform the bank that there is a case against you in progress and should decline all debit order requests. I am a poor person who can’t afford much thus opted for an insurance that offered less premium and you are charging me R5000 per month while you said your premium is R1000, what is that? It’s called misrepresentation and *****. I would like to state my case in court and need to be heard as I declared that I can’t pay more than R1000 a month on insurance and disputed a statement when I was told up top up per month and never agreed to it. I declared my confusion about being double billed as I can’t afford more than R1000 a month and shocked and beyond disgusted that you are abusing my account and debiting over R1000 on it. You are abusing someone who can’t afford to pay more R1000 as per my declaration in your recorded telephone conversations and charging over R1000. I will see you in court.

I asked you multiple times, listen to the recordings, what it meant being charged per kilometre. I asked in what instance will I get to be charged, what would have happened to trigger an additional charge. Is it if I exceed certain kilometres or days? None of these were answered and even said its confusing that you can’t answer as car hire agencies tell when to pay and what you are paying for. With them you are paying per kilometre because you are using their car and got the car with petrol, which means you are using their car and petrol which makes sense why one would be charged per kilometre. In my case I asked why I am being charged per kilometre over and above my premium as I am using my car and my petrol what additional kilometre charge is it for, why am I paying for and why as I am using my car and petrol, who am I owing and for what as I am already paying you insurance premium of R1000 and and no one gave me an answer, listen to the recordings please and my lawyers will be requesting them as well as we need to present these in court.

The below are just for April, in one month for a person who said they are struggling and can’t afford any premium more than R1000 per month but you have billed me the below after I declared that I don’t understand your per km billing and needed clarity before I proceed and sent you an email that was not responded to regarding my usage per annum. What is this?

2016-04-19 R667.80

2016-04-29 R110.0

2016-04-29 R120.00

2016-04-29 R1 033.88

Dear Lerato
On the 18th of May 2016 our Vuyisile Ndhlovu sent you an e-mail confirming that the policy was cancelled as per your request, explaining the debit query that you had and also advising you of the benefits that each policy/product has. The response that we received from you was as follows: “I am glad policy is cancelled. I did n’t bother reading your email except for the first sentence confirming cancellation and just waiting for attachments with recordings” (verbatim).
With reference to the amounts that were debited from your account, we advise that they are for the following:
· R110.00 is for your Platinum Club policy which entitles you to a once off payment of R3 400.00 in the event of a vehicle accident/theft/hijack.
· R120.00 is your Excess Buster policy which entitles you to cover of up to R5 300.00 towards your excess in the event of a valid claim on your comprehensive policy.
· R1 033.88 is the risk premium of your vehicle’s comprehensive cover insurance.
· R667.80 is the premium that was calculated based on the kilometres that you travelled during that particular month’s period of cover.
Vuyisile further advised that we intend to resolve this matter amicably so that you can be happy with the outcome even though you are no longer insured with us. We understand that you may not have fully understood the nature/concept of the Pay Per Kilometre policy when the sales consultant was explaining it to you. As the name of the product dictates, your premium is also based on the amount of kilometres travelled during the month (one calendar month). This means that you will be charged the base/risk premium and an additional amount will be debited in the middle of the month that is based on the number of kilometres travelled.
On the e-mail referred to above we advised that since you did not understand the implications of this policy we are prepared to refund the following amounts in order to resolve this matter amicably; the premiums that were based on the kilometres that you travelled during your period of insurance (i.e. R667.80 that was debited on 19/04/2016 and R3 098.76 debited 18/05/2016) as soon as it is confirmed that this amount was debited successfully.
We confirm that we did not get any form of response to our proposed resolution and upon checking your accounts module on our system we noticed that you reversed all the premiums that were debited from your account. Therefore, there are no funds payable to you.
We also advise as per our e-mail sent to you on the 19th of May 2016 that the file size of your recordings is 41mb and cannot be sent over e-mail. We are still waiting for you to send us your lawyer’s postal address so that we can send the recordings.
Kind regards
