Be very careful. They care more for pets than people

After someone drove into my car, it took DotSure/Oakhurst a whole month to come back to me to say they are rejecting my claim. I am appealing to the ombudsman and am reporting them to the Financial Sector Conduct Authority. It is clear that they spent time meticulously looking for some way to avoid paying and dealing with their responsibility to me as a client. I am urging all my friends to be avoid them. Most of their positive reviews are about pet insurance. They care more for animals than people.

Dear Nhlanhla

We refer to your Hello-Peter complaint logged on 22 July 2019.

The content of your complaint has been duly noted.  Following the outcome of your claim dated 19th June 2019 whereby your vehicle was rear ended by a third-party vehicle.  The claim was verified, and it was established that the use of the insured vehicle was in contrary to the use that you opted for at inception.  The claim was then declined on the basis of non-compliance.  It is unfortunate that you are unhappy with this decision, and this forms the basis of your complaint.

Our office has investigated the matter and we established that:

During the voice proposal the use of vehicle was discussed in detail with you and you opted for private use. However, it was found that at the time of the incident, you have been using the vehicle for business purposes. Your actions in this regard exposed the insured vehicle to undue risk, which falls outside the scope of your cover.
It is therefore our submission that the declination of your claim was sound and in line with the terms and conditions of your cover.

We trust that you find the above in order.

Regards,
Oakhurst Resolutions Team

I have noted the reply, but it goes to the heart of MY point that Oakhurst Insurance does NOT care about its clients. I am spreading the word and everyone I have spoken to and in social media posts agrees that it is unreasonable for an insurance company to put its client in financial distress and permanently damage that client's insurance record because of an incident they did not cause. But to the point about "business use", the reply is also unreasonable in this manner: I do not have nor do I run a business. I am an office worker. In other words there was no expectation at the point of taking out the policy that I would have an ad hoc meeting to attend. Indeed, since the incident I have not been required to attend any meetings. Therefore, the question which you (and shortly the FSCA and the ombudsman) must answer is: how do you define business use? If I was on leave and went to exactly the same location to see exactly the same people, would that make it "private use", or "public use". From your perspective, the exposure is the same, especially in the context that I am not running or conducting business using my car. Second, why is OAKHURST so eager to avoid representing its clients to claim the money from the third party who caused the accident? In a police report a driver admits to driving into my vehicle, and OAKHURST won't pursue the matter. I find that very suspicious. Therefore, I plan to continue pursuing this matter, and to bring public attention to this practice.
