Bad, vary bad service...

So, it seems insurance companies are really determined to pick pocket their clients by all means necessary. Oakhurst insurance and dotsure seem to be the worse, and that should be a surprise since they are in the same stable. I was involved in an accident, and it was clearly not my fault and the third party agreed to that. Got her details and she promised to claim from her insurance and submitted all these details to Oakhurst/dotsure. A day later I was told not to constant the third party again as hey will handle the claim from the third party insurance themselves. Wow, how helpful they are I thought. Unbeknowns, this was part of their plan to sc&w me. Then I was told to pay excess which they will claim back from the third party on my behalf, which I did, trusting they would fulfill their promise. Well, I haven’t received my ‘refundable’ excess money and no feedback whatsoever from them, until today. Sound like ****** to me.

A month later I submitted a claim for a lost key. And I was told I was negligent. I am still waiting for explanation from them as to what constitutes negligence and what doesn’t when it comes to lost car keys. Sounds like ****** to me.

They do it because they know they would get away with it, yet collecting your premium every months, under the pretense that they would help you when in need. So people, remember that insurance don’t serve your interests but theirs and their bottom line. I won’t recommend you join oakhurst or any of its subsidiaries. You’d be scr*wed.

Am not holding my breath.... if momentum can do it... defend they pathetic decision on media... and only do right when they are losing customers.... it shows it is all about bottom line... never about helpfulness. sad.

Dear Thabang

We refer to your complaint posted on 26 November 2018, the contents of which have been duly noted.

A claim was instituted for an incident that occurred on 03 August 2018 under your Dotsure Select Policy which was authorised for settlement.

An excess is the first amount payable by you in the event of a claim as stated in your policy schedule. We confirm that the excess that was app**** to your claim was correct and in accordance to the terms and conditions of your policy.

We further confirm that your claim has been allocated to the Recovery Department who are attempting to recover the monies you were out of pocket from the third party. The recovery's process was explained to you, asper our records. Kindly allow the process to follow through and should you have any queries after finalisation thereof, you are welcome to contact our Resolutions department.

Furthermore,  we confirm that you reported a claim on 22 October 2018, which was declined after verification thereof.

Your claim was declined due to LACK OF DUE CARE /REASONABLE CARE & NON-COMPLIANCE - LATE NOTIFICATION. You advised that the said car keys were misplaced some time early December 2017. It follows that you failed to exercise due and reasonable care to prevent the loss and exposed the Insurer to undue risk which falls outside the scope your cover.

It is a policy requirement that all incidents that may give rise to a claim be reported to the Insurer within 30 days. Because of your failure to notify your Insurer within 30 days of the incident, the Insurer has been prejudiced as they were unable to investigate and verify the nature of the claim or your compliance with the policy terms and conditions.

Regrettably, considering the above we cannot fault the Insurer’s decision herein.

We trust you find the above in order.

Regards

Oakhurst Resolutions Team
