Another VERY unhappy customer feeling cheated

Be very careful using Oakhurst. I understood my tools were covered in my vehicle (as I pay a separate fee of R80p/m for contents) but when they were ****** I was informed my vehicle contents is only up to a limit of R1000. I was later quoted R65 for R 15000 cover of my tools by their consultant (when doing a premium review)… She had forgotten my claim, I have been paying R80 per month for years and upon claiming, I am told that I only have R1000 cover for sun glasses or a baby seat. I am also paying R90 per month for my tyres and mags (value +\- R30 000) which also stand a higher chance of been ******, looking at the proportions (R90 for R30 000) vs (R80 for R1000)????????? I have asked to see the Ombudsman more than once but no reply as usual – they even told me that I have to consult with their internal ombudsman (who also don’t bother calling back) before consulting with an external one, this company is quick to take your money but don’t pay out after a claim . Be careful be very careful!!!!!!

Dear Mr. Wood,

After conducting a full investigation, we can provide the following feedback with regard to your complaint.

You had a claim for an incident that occurred on 02 February 2018 under your Oakhurst Vehicle Contents Cover Policy which incepted on 01 July 2017.

The policy wording read with the policy schedule contained the contract between the parties.

Our records confirm that you enjoyed no cover for the item that was ******, and as a result thereof, your claim was cancelled. The limits that apply to your Vehicle Contents Cover are specified in your policy schedule. We confirm that the car tool set you referred too is general tools that comes standard with the car and excludes the tool box you claimed for. As such, it fell outside the scope of your cover.

Furthermore, we confirm that the R 65.00 premium quotation you received for your tool box was quoted under Portable Possession Cover under specified item, a cover which you did not have on the date of loss.

Regrettably, taking the above into consideration we cannot fault the Insurer’s decision herein.

We trust you find the above in order.

Please do not hesitate to contact our Resolutions Department for any further queries regarding the matter.

Regards

Oakhurst Resolutions Team
