Oakenbough English Bulldogs

I bought a male puppy from Oakenbough Stud in August 2024. The pup arrived by plane in Cape Town in a very unhealthy state - dirty and sick. He had diarrhoea and was coughing up yellow mucous.

I took him to the vet the next day where he needed 2 courses of antibiotics to clear his airways.

At 7 months he suffered a severe lung infection and was hospitalized for two days.

At 8 months he was X-rayed and I discovered he had severe hip and elbow dysplasia, and a deformed tail.

At 9 months he started displaying aggression towards my other dogs due to the constant pain he was suffering, and I had to make the difficult decision to put him down.

I've since learned that there are others who bought pups from Oakenbough, and have had similar experiences.

This is definitely not an ethical breeder. According to Bulldog Rescue SA, they were evicted from a previous property, and when they left they abandoned 6 adult bulldogs that they no longer had use for. 2 of these dogs died before they could be rehomed.

My advice: don't buy a puppy from Oakenbough Stud.
