M Audio BX5 D2 studio monitors

<p>I bought these monitors brand new from a music store and had them for just under three months. One day they just wouldn't power on and I took them back to the store. After three weeks on waiting for a responds they told me the speakers blew due to a power surge. I find that a bit hard strange because my computer which was plugged in at the same socket is fine. </p> <p> </p> <p>They also told me I have to pay for the repair because it isn't covered by the warranty. I've had the speakers less than three months...am I liable to pay for repair? </p>
