Service delivery at all-time low!

I registered at NWU as a distance learning student with very high expectations in 2017. Their unit for distance learning was run by OLG at the time and the service I received from them was satisfactory, until NWU broke their ties with OLG. The university's Unit for Open distance learning took over from OLG and that was where all my problems started in late 2017. I could not access the student portal, they failed to address administrative issues that I raised with them and above all, the design of the course is totally irrelevant to my work environment. This particular issue I raised with the Registrar. I informed her that I work in the TVET sector and the course material focused on primary school syllabus. The registrar advised me to adapt the portfolios and assignments that had to be submitted to suit my work environment. The result, lecturers penalized me because it does not suit the guidelines of the activities. For the last two months I struggled to re-register a subject that I wanted to add for this semester because I want to finish this course in this semester. I spoke to different consultants on numerous occasions, approached the campus manager of the satellite campus in the town where I live, I spoke to Mr Hendrik Modiboa at administration and he promised me the subject will be added but to no avail, I contacted the head of the department Dr Schutte informing him about my predicament and still nothing happened. The examination time-table is out and the subject is still not added, whilst I paid the registration fee months ago and contacted them on numerous occasions.

To conclude I just want to mention that NWU is the worst institution to further your education via distance learning. It it certainly was the worst learning experience I've ever encountered. I think they just created this course to compete with other institutions and to make a buck out of it too. I emphasized on many occasions that that course material is totally irrelevant and complained about the poor service I received through out my dealings with them. I am utterly disgusted with the service I received after paying thousands of rands to an institution I rated highly. I will make it a point to inform everyone I know about my experience with NWU and will advise all not to make use of them as a service provider!
