Consumer Protection Act violated by NWJ

My partner bought a birthday gift on the 13/02/23 at Nwj Eastrand Mall. I received my gift on the 19/02/23. When I saw my gift, I loved it, but not the earing as that's not my style. He told me I can return them and choose whichever earing I prefer as he was told I can exchange whatever I don't prefer. I'm not office based and am working different areas. I managed to go to Nwj in Eastland mall to try and exchange the earing I never wore. To my surprise when I got there I was told that earing can't be exchanged as per policy. Now I'm sitting with an unwanted gift. I am forced to keep an unwanted gift because it is their policy not to exchange earings. Which means my consumer rights are violated at this store. I guess there is no refund should you buy from them and decide otherwise. They showed me the fine prints at the back of the receipt of which were never shown to my partner. The only thing he was told that I can exchange if I didn't like the gift.
