I’ve been a client of Nubar before and have never had issues, which makes this experience particularly disappointing. This visit was meant to be a bit of a treat for myself, so it was especially frustrating to end up dissatisfied... particularly after spending over R400. About a week after my appointment, one nail chipped. I returned for a repair, but shortly after that, things worsened. Within a day or two, several nails began lifting and chipping, and one became so problematic that I had to temporarily patch it to prevent damage to my natural nail. Interestingly, the nail that was repaired has remained completely intact and has lasted well, which further added to my concern given the issues experienced with the rest of the set. When I raised this with the salon, I felt the response was dismissive. It was suggested that I might be having an allergic reaction, which I’m not comfortable with, as I’ve used these same products many times before without any issues. The appointment I originally booked was also not carried out by the technician I had selected. I was advised that the owner would do my next set; however, given that I had already paid for the initial set that resulted in premature lifting and chipping, I did not feel comfortable paying again for another full application with no assurance of a different outcome. For this reason, I requested a removal instead. Unfortunately, I have not received a response to that request. While this may be an isolated experience, the lack of accountability and follow-up has been disappointing. When you’re paying for a quality service (especially as an occasional treat) you expect both good results and professional customer care.
