Darkness!

<p>The last two movies we've seen at NuMetro Canal Walk have been incredibly dark, to the point of not being able to make out what was going on in some scenes. I've confirmed with friends who've seen the same films elsewhere that they weren't shot like that and were in fact bright and well-lit. The films were The Arrival (I can't remember exactly which screen we saw it in but I think it was eleven), and recently, Rogue One in screen nine. Both in 2D. Having paid money to see these films in a professional cinema venue it was very disappointing to not have a full, proper cinema experience and to be struggling to see what was going on - if I'm buying a movie ticket to see a film projected on a large screen in a professionally run cinema I think it's reasonable that I should expect a professional experience. Unfortunately we have problems at that Canal Walk Nu Metro so often that we didn't even think of complaining to a manager on-site after seeing the films - it was 'just another bad experience'. The only reason we still attend is because they show 2D screenings of films earlier than our local Ster Kinekor.</p> <p> </p> <p>Please have some pride in your craft. Take care of your screens, take care of your seating, make sure your projectionists are passionate about their work. Nu Metro might just exist as a business to make money, but the people you cater for are cinephiles who love the cinema experience, love movies, and deserve proper screenings. Maybe don't spend so much money on things like 4DX if it's pulling away from the money you can spend on maintaining a standard of quality in the basics, hmm?</p>
