The inadequacies of Telkom
After being a Telkom customer for almost 50 years I signed on for their fibre Wi-Fi and in Jan 23 I phoned and questioned the reason why our data signal was unacceptable at night while watching TV.. the guy I spoke to without any warning or proper discussion told me that they were going to "migrate" me to Frogfoot and before I could decide or say yay or nay he cut our service with the flick of a switch leaving us without Wi-Fi as well as our 50 yr old telkom landline...I immediately called back and asked for our service to be restored and then it started.. I was thrown around to different departments and no one helped me.. I phoned back and tried for the whole day until they closed without any success AND THIS CARRIED ON FROM TUESDAY UNTIL THE FOLLOWING THURSDAY - EVERYDAY FROM 9 UNTIL 5..is this even possible.? I mean, could people be sò *********** or just plain lazy to keep on passing the buck and actually blatantly refusing to assist a person with such a problem..??? I decided to stop stressing and decided to opt for a new provider.. after almost a month of not having Wi-Fi I actually then contacted the branch manager, Daryll Nel who also lives here in Carletonville, the then manager of theTelkom shop in Potchefstroom who has since retired after many yrs with Telkom for his advice.. Daryll was so kind to offer us, and after work come and sign us up and install a 10mbps LTE Wi-Fi router that works instantly - with a contractual cooling off period of 7 days.. we really tried but the speed was to slow as we do streaming on our TV - it wasnt ideal for our purpose so I spoke to Daryll on the 6th day to inform him that we'd rather opt for higher speed fibre data which he agreed upon and arranged for us to return the device to him after work which we duly did. I then received an invoice for the first montly payment and reacted by phoning them and told them the contract was cancelled upon which they rep**** that I cannot cancel - the person who did the deal, which was Daryll, could only cancel it himself. I then obviously contacted Daryll who assured me it has been taken care of - then my new trouble started. Telkom debits my bank account without fail every last day of every month for an amount of R1915 which I for obvious reasons reject and after untold amounts of phone calls to stop this unpleasantness they handed me over to their debt collectors to whom I've explained the situation uncountable times and they just shake their heads in disgust and even told me that this was typical of Telkom.. They dont seem to have any idea about what's going on inside their business - they refuse to admitt that the contract was cancelled.. I have tried to contact Daryll to end this unpleasant experience but he does not answer his phone and if Telkom would only call Daryll themselves Im sure this matter would be solved and erased immediately... I am now 76 yrs old and have never ever in my whole life experienced the incompetence, unwillingness or the inadequacy of the people working for Telkom..
