Attempts To Collect On A Prescribed Debt From 2008!

<p>I have recently been receiving telephone calls and harassing messages from this company, which it turns out relates to an Altech Autopage Cellular account I had from 2006 until 2008.</p> <p> </p> <p>In February 2008 I went into Altech Autopage in Empangeni at the Game Centre and asked to cancel my account as it was at the 2 - year period.</p> <p> </p> <p>They said a form had to be faxed to Pretoria, which they assisted me with and duly faxed from their shop.</p> <p> </p> <p>For many months after this I had problems with bills for Altech for a no longer active number and for phonecalls and texts that were not possible to have been sent.</p> <p> </p> <p>By 2009 I had heard nothing more from them after they ad destroyed my Nedbank bank account by repeatedly putting through various random direct debit orders for different amounts and I had been forced to close my Nedbank account.</p> <p> </p> <p>To this day I have heard nothing further on the subject of this account, until Nudebt started harassing me. last month.</p> <p> </p> <p>When they told me what the account was for, I clearly stated to them that this account is from 2008, is for a closed account, and furthermore even if any money was owing, after NINE YEARS this debt was clearly prescribed.</p> <p>The first lady I spoke to said she would refer it back as it was a prescribed debt.....</p> <p> </p> <p>The messages continued.... The enxt lady I spoke to said that they had been handed the debt for collection in 2011 so it was not prescribed.</p> <p> </p> <p>I explained to her the rules of debt prescription and that 2011 to 2017 is in fact SIX YEARS which is clearly still longer than the three years for prescription.</p> <p>She then acknowleged that even if they had been given the account in 2011, it was in fact six years and clearly prescribed.</p> <p>She stated that she would refer it back as prescribed and I would hear nothing further....</p> <p> </p> <p>Low and behold I am still receiving sms's stating that this matter is urgent and they claim telephonically that I owe R2700 on this prescribed debt.</p> <p> </p> <p>I am led to believe that it has been made ******* to attempt to collect on a prescribed debt, yet Nudebt do this anyway.</p> <p> </p> <p>I want htis matter resolved as I will clearly not under any circumstances be paying a prescribed debt from 2008.</p> <p> </p> <p>The matter number is ND ********** 8</p> <p>ID Number ********** 110087</p>
