Business Integrity
The business integrity of this contractor is highly questionable. Following continuous rainfall in Gauteng, a roof leak caused by a blocked valley occurred at one of the units in our complex four days before Christmas. The quotation submitted included 80 litres of waterproofing paint (Flexicote and Fibre Tech). This quantity is wholly unjustifiable. Based on the scope of work actually performed, no more than 10–15 litres of waterproofing material would have been required. Furthermore, work was limited to the south-facing side of the roof, as the north-facing side is largely covered by solar panels. When this discrepancy was queried before the sealing work commenced, the contractor refused to revise the quotation. Given the timing during the holiday period and the urgent nature of the leak, we were left with no reasonable alternative but to proceed under these constrained circumstances. Be careful in your dealings with this contractor.
