Very bad service
I am very disappointed in the service recieved at the spca in grassy park cape town. They are there to help animals and cruelty towards animals. My wife took our 6 kitten that's 3 weeks old to them for help as the kittens are suffering with breathing and eye infections. They said the youngest 1 might not make it. They told my wife they need antibiotics asap as they all weak. But she has to pay 4 it. She told them that she's unemployed and worried about the kitten that's why she brought them. And if they cant give them something and she will make a payment arrangement with them. But instead they sent all the kittens home as is without meds that they need knowing with out the meds they will die. Now is that not cruelty towards the kittens. She took them so that they can help. I will never take a pet there again. It seems money matters more to them than the life of the pets

The SPCA is a charitable organisation that solely relies on the public’s generosity to serve the animals from impoverished and disadvantaged communities with the best treatment possible and limited funding. The cats were examined by an Animal Welfare Assistant, AWA, who is the first point of consultation and diagnosed them with snuffles. They needed to put on a course of supportive treatment and medication had to be purchased. Your wife stated that she was unemployed, but she was going to come back ASAP to buy medication. Had she mentioned that she needed a payment plan to be made, we would have assisted with such. The receptionists saw your wife taking the cats to the car after the consult, and they thought she was coming back. You came to the SPCA the following day, and your communication to the AWA was clear, and he assisted you. Clearly, money is not above animal welfare to us. You can agree, the SPCA can't render all services free of charge. Our suppliers can’t give free medication. It is challenging for all parties, and we need to work together for the welfare of animals and the sustainability of the organisation. We apologise if you perceived our attitude as money-driven and uncaring, this was certainly not the intention. We offer highly discounted services, and animal welfare will always come first.
