They stole our puppy
The SPCA allowed one puppy to be adopted twice at the same time.

We went to the SPCA to adopt a dog. We picked out a puppy that we were told was available to be adopted. Our home was inspected and approved. Our other dog successfully met the puppy in the 'get to know each other' area. The puppy was spayed, dewormed and chipped. We fetched the puppy and the puppy came to stay with us on what we thaught was to be a permanent basis. However, this morning someone from the SPCA called us and told us they had given us a puppy that someone else had already adopted and that we had to return it.

In my opinion this speaks to either a ******** level of inneptitude or a very cruel sense of humour if you can even call it that. The puppy was not switched for a slightly different puppy at any point in the proceedings, they litterally allowed it to be adopted twice. Puppies are living things and in my opinion this was like letting someone adopt a child and then telling them that they were actually not up for adoption after sending the child home with them.

Either way, the SPCA Randburg will not be getting my or anyone else in my family's business again.
Without prejudice and excuse
On behalf of the Randburg SPCA I apologise for this unfortunate incident, there seems to have been a breakdown and poor judgement with communication concerning the staff members who dealt with both similar looking puppies. A gentleman had already reserved and paid for the puppy in question but the reception person on duty at the time did not write his name on the reserve until you had inquired about the puppy. The time you came in to collect the staff neglected to realise that the puppy was already reserved and the adoption was paid up in full and that they thought it was up for adoption meaning the similar looking puppy. I regret this incident and have taken steps to insure it never happens again.
I have been informed that you have already been refunded and chose not to adopt the similar looking puppy. Once again please accept my sincere apologies.
