SPCA Rooderpoort. Negligent
We took our dog in for sterilization. My dog has had issues for two weeks . They used a blunt blade to shave my dog causing issues all over his treatment area . They gave no pain meds for my pet . He has an infection and it's got pus coming out . I will never support an spca again . You think by giving your money there you can help the SPCA in some way. They have neglected and abused my home pet . The negligence care not taken with the sterilization is unacceptable

24 Jun 2019, 13:15 The Roodepoort SPCA Veterinary Hospital is saddened to hear that your pet had complications after his sterilization. We use standardized veterinary protocols for surgeries and pain control is included. All our dog sterilizations receive morphine as part of their sedation, as well as a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory injection after surgery for pain control. Unfortunately we cannot predict which animals could have complications after surgery and provide a post-sterilization instruction handout for all sterilized animals. These instructions advise that if any problems are noticed with the incision site that the animal be brought back to us for examination and treatment. We hope that your pet is receiving treatment and is recovering from his complications.

24 Jun 2019, 13:43Thank you for the response . No instructions given . We came in on the 10th June. The lady in the morning very helpful and kind . The afternoon pick up was a different person that took us to the back to collect our dog and go with no collar no pain meds and no instructions. Had I needed to buy a collar and the pain meds I would gladly have done so . My local vet has been treating him from the 12th from the scabbing BLUNT blade USAGE ,and pain meds . This morning he had to be places on antibiotics and also have the pus flushed out . As the nylon stitch was to tight and embedding into his skin. He was 42kgs when he came in and has dropped in weight . He is traumatized and aggressive which is understandable for his pain. Please just take the review and work with your staff , I do not require anything from the SPCA but I do believe you should review the protocal that was followed that day . I can send you pictures if you like of what my baby is going through.
