Spca Roodepoort
I believe this organization engages in taking pets and reselling them to the public. The manager displayed an extremely unprofessional and hostile attitude during my attempt to reclaim my dog. I was accused of neglect without valid proof, and despite providing evidence of ownership, my dog was still withheld from me. The process was unnecessarily long and frustrating, and I was treated with clear bias. I also strongly suspect that racial ************** influenced the decision not to return my dog.

This incident happened in July 2024. You are very ill-informed about the SPCA and our procedures, even thou they were explained to you several times in July 2024 when this incident occurred, well over a year ago. The SPCA does not sell animals. A pet is adopted and the amount paid is for the veterinary services for the animal. Our adoption process is not unnecessarily long and frustrating for a responsible caring pet owner. It was explained to you several times that a stray animal becomes the property of the SPCA after the stray pound period of 7 days has lapsed. The more this was explained to you the more it appeared to be incomprehensible to you. For 3 months you did not bother to look for a dog which you lost. The dog had been in the care of the SPCA for 39 days before you were informed about his photo on out FB adoption page. Any animal which is in the care of the SPCA will not be given to an *********** irresponsible person. No staff member is bias or ******. The SPCA has a responsibility towards the animals in our care and when a person is irresponsible and has an imprudent attitude that person will not be given custodianship of any animal. It is unfortunate that ****** and preposterous accusations are made when people do not get their way.
