SPCA Grassy Park Not doing their Job
I just reported mu cat was hit by a car as we don't have transportation to take the animal to them, the tell me they don't do pickup of animals anymore... this is the SPCA aren't they supposed to help animals in distress and in trauma 😢 They get so much funding, but are not able to provide a service to community members that they are being paid for this is disgusting

25 Nov 2022, 09:42Dear Mr Johnson We thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. After your complaint, our Inspectorate Supervisor called you to discuss the matter and explain the process. As explained, unfortunately, the SPCA does not have the manpower or resources to offer an animal ambulance service for privately owned animals. It is the owner’s responsibility to ensure that when their animal is injured or sick, that they take the animal to a veterinarian for treatment. The SPCA however will never leave an animal to suffer, and as part of our policy, we always offer for the owner, if they do not have transport or cannot afford veterinary treatment, to rather surrender the animal to the SPCA for humane euthanasia to alleviate the animal’s suffering. Our SPCA offers a welfare hospital with subsidised rates for those who cannot afford a private veterinarian's services, but the owner must bring the animal to the SPCA for treatment. As animal owners, we are responsible for our animals and cannot redirect our responsibility to others. Kind regards Jaco PieterseChief Inspector
