RUDE SPCA AMANZIMTOTI
I recently tried to donate some dog beds to the SPCA at Toti as I had bought new beds for my dogs. These beds that I was donating were being used by my dogs up until the purchase of the new ones and were in fairly good condition. I had them all washed and was told by a very rude lady at the SPCA (even before she could see the beds) that they DON'T ACCEPT ******* AND MUST GO DUMP THEM!!! This despite them advertising that they are looking for donations of used and old bedding for their animals. VERY DISSAPOINTED BY THEIR ATTITUDE AND THE WAY THAT SHE SPOKE TO MY DAD WHO HAD TAKEN THE BEDS THERE

We are so appreciative of donations but unfortunately, we are unable to use certain items if they are too old or broken. In these cases we are honest with our donors; if we are unable to use the donated items, it costs us money to dispose of them. We could see the beds in the back of his van and made our decision based on the condition. We are so sorry if this was interpreted as a lack of appreciation and rudeness. We never want our donors to feel this way. We are unable to operate without the support and contributions of our community and donors. On behalf of the Committee, I would like to call and apologize personally to you or your father if his details could be provided to us. Please accept our sincerest apologies. 27 Sept 2021, 16:22Dear Dr Ghuman. Whilst I do appreciate your apology and reply, I would like to point out that the dog beds were in black bin bags and could not be seen. There was no way that the lady in question (she was seated in her Company van) had sight of the beds other than maybe one corner that was sticking out. My issue is that she did not have the courtesy to even look at the beds properly, and she spoke to my 73 year old dad in such a rude manner that he came home very upset by the incident. If she, or anyone, had taken the time to look at the beds and then politely refuse if need be, I would have no issue. There is no excuse for rudeness especially when we have such a love for the animals and only wanted to help. I have often donated to the SPCA but have now formed a different opinion of what 'help' they actually seek as it seems that certain staff believe it is acceptable to be dismissive of a person trying to do good. I can only hope that this never happens to anyone else trying to help. It doesn't cost anything to treat others with kindness and respect. To tell someone that their donation is ******* and must be taken to the DUMP is unacceptable
