No hope for the Animals
I used to stay in Cape Town and had helped the SPCA on numerous times sending complaints and getting abused animals helped. They have always responded within days and sent inspectors out. I must say, this is not the case in Gauteng and If everyone is getting the same experience as I, then I fear the animals in Gauteng have no help at all. The lack of helps is alarming and I am ashamed to see how little people over here care for animals. I sent an email to Tshwane SPCA on the 2nd of June about a Pet Shop in Claremont, Pretoria that keeps chickens in very small cages all day, everyday and left outside as ornaments to the shop. They are also selling puppies out of the shop and the state of the animals is **********. Sent another follow up email on 10th of June and also sent it to the Centurion SPCA for good measure, I have not received a single response. I then sent an email to the the national council of SPCA's on June 11th and they said the sent the complaint to Tshwane SPCA and they will respond within 7 days, it has now been 8 days. Does no one care about animals in Gauteng?

Please accept our sincere apology for the late response. The complaint was received and attended to within 24 hours while feedback was not given within the set mandate of seven days due to the high number of emergency call outs during that time period, and for that we deeply apologize. This matter was again addressed with our inspectors to do better in providing feedback to everyone who play a vital role in being the eyes and ears of the animals we are entrusted with. While we are overwhelmed with a high volume of complaints which lead to late responses, we are doing everything we can to make the situation better. Upon inspection of the premises the animals were noted to be in acceptable condition with their captive provisions being met. It was observed and stated by the owner that the animals are housed indoors overnight and outside during operating hours under the shops front shade in movable cages. The SPCA remains fully committed to protecting the wellbeing of animals both in captivity and natural setting as it’s opposed to the keeping of animas in captivity for commercial gain. Again we apologise for the late response and committee to do better in providing feedback.
