Negligance and Incompetancy
We took my daughter's dog,(Staffie) to the spca in midrand for treatment. She was attacked by 2 pitbulls. They offered to treat the dog and arrangements were made for full payment the next week when my daughter's husband got his salary. When wanting to go pay up and collect the dog, Pam Pretorius (General Manager) got so aggrevated and refused to give the dog to my daughter. She then said they must first do an inspection at their home on a agriculural holding in President park. They fixed up the fencing but according to them is not sufficiant. The landlord of the property says that he has 'nt got the finances to fix it the way they want it. But according to breaders of other dogs in the same area said it was done more than sufficiant. And what they don't even picked up is that the pitbulls that attacked her dog of one of the tenants on the property, is no longer there. She handled and talked to my daughter like she is a filthy ******** or something. Also threatens my daughter that she can and will put the dog to sleep, and has the right to do so by law. My daughter recorded the conversaton as well. It seems that they only after your money and don't care about tha animals welfare and health. My daughter's dog already suffered great traumabdue to keeping her away from them, and they would not even allow my daughter and grandchildren to visit or just to see the dog.

Our society went above and beyond our duty to assist your pet with veterinary treatment (at cost price) and allowed for payment arrangement. This isn’t standard procedure, but we wanted to offer our assistance. There has been no negligence on our part. Your dog was attacked on your property by pitbulls due to damaged fencing with holes. The dog arrived at our society not only with injuries sustained but was also treated for babesia. The dog was kept in our care for treatment during her recovery. On Friday, the owner was contacted to visit and pay, but advised she was busy with party arrangements. The condition of treatment was that she would be returned to a safe environment. This was requested to ensure that the fencing had been fixed to prevent this type of suffering to occur again, or worse, that she is mauled to death. An inspection was done and although some fixtures have been made, some areas have not yet been fixed (particularly the fence through which the dogs crawled to attack her). 2 pitbulls were still observed on the property during our inspection. Should we not have cared for her wellbeing, we would have not taking the steps in ensuring her safety when she does return home. It is disappointing to see that despite our attempts only being in the best interest of the dog, you choose to bring us to disrepute when our only concern to date, has been for the wellbeing of this dog.
