My 1st vist to spca
I went to the durban spca Springfield SPCA, I had booked an appointment for 10:30am and once i got there the receptionist saw to us and then told me to wait in the waiting area(outside) for the doctor who was apparently on his way or busy...we only got seen to 12:30 and I was with my mother that day...the doctor calls my cats name and when I walk into the room I continue to tell him that my mum is outside and didn't know I am in cause she was on the phone,the doctor tells me in the most rude way ever...the sign on the door says only one person allowed, if u can't read then get out!! Thereafter my mother phones me as she was concerned where I went...I pick up the phone to tell her and as I put it to my ear the doctor shouts at me and says if u want to speak go speak outside u can see there's no cellphones allowed, I don't even have my own cell phone, so if u want to talk get out and ill call the next customer and not serve you I was starting to get ****ed of as I'm not even an adult yet and my mother is worried where I am...I continue to talk to the doctor about my cat(and referring to her as it and cat instead of calling her by her name as he knows her name and gender) and he's shouting and talking in the most rude way possible, he asked me if I took her in for her 2nd vaccine and I said no we had family problems...he continues to shout and say "we're u in the hospital with your granny? you couldnt make time to take your cat to the vet" I continue to tell this man we were extremely busy and he does not keep quiet on how I(a minor) could have left my busy schedule of metric, taking care of family, school, tuitions and much more...to come wait probably for 2 hours at a place where they are rude and even if u have an appointment still will get served late. Ontop of that they refused to see to my cat and we then after had to take her to Ashbourne private vet where she stayed for 2 days and was cared for in the best way I've seen
I will never trust the Springfield spca in my life as they treat humans like dirt What do you think they will do to our poor pets?

This delay is regrettable as the consults were very busy and running behind schedule that day.CCTV recording shows no aggression observed from our staff member; he was simply straightforward in his communication. He informed you of the one-person per consult room. The cat was not treated due to the lack of a referral letter from your private vet, which was explained to you and is a strict requirement from owners who have previously treated their pet/s at a private veterinary facility. Our frontline staff confirmed informing you of the referral letter requirement - prior to your arriving for the consultation. It is noted that the cat was thereafter treated at a private veterinary facility; if an owner can afford this then they do not qualify to utilise the vet services of the SPCA which are subsidised through donations.
