I'm unemployed and took my puppy for a vaccine at Durban North SPCA. they made me sign an unemployment form but still charged me full price! Only after the vaccine did they inform me that I'd have to pay full price. I was nice enough not to cause a scene and I have emailed them but to no avail. I demand a refund. Sounds like a **** to me.

The professional veterinary services offered at the SPCA are indeed specifically for unemployed, underprivileged and pensioned pet owners. These services are subsidised through private donations which means that you pay a fraction of the price of those offered at a private veterinary practice. The services are however not free of charge, and this would have been explained to you at the time. Well done for being a responsible pet owner and taking responsibility for the health of your puppy. Please continue to take care of your puppy and ensure booster and annual vaccination protocols are followed to ensure he/she is protected against horrible diseases like rabies and parvo virus.

28 May 2024, 10:10I never said it was supposed to be free but if you're going to charge me the usual price of R340 then I would have just gone to a private Vet. I was expecting it to be atleast R200. Thanks to your incompetence I'm indebted to someone else whp had to help me pay that fee.
