Kudos to the Sandton SPCA

Hello, sad news about our dog Milo. Milo had cancer and he was operated on the 11th June. He returned home and the day after the operation he was full of energy and so happy to be alive!!! However his condition started deteriorating about 3 weeks ago. He started losing weight and about 3 days ago I noticed that he had difficulty in walking.

Yesterday he could hardly walk. I had to take the food plate right next to him. Interestingly enough he had appetite. But he was under a lot of pain and he cried the whole night (last night) for the 1st time ever.

The vet Doctor said this morning that the cancer had spread and even though Milo had appetite the food was nourishing the cancer not him. Milo must have been in great pain all along - he was put to sleep.

Good friends as well as pets… become extended family so it is always incredibly sad when they depart.

Kudos to the Sandton SPCA. The people are friendly and they all seem to be competent including the veterinary Doctor, the ladies at reception, the people working in the kennels… Thanks to all for the way they treated Milo.

Thank you so much for the compliment and support! All too often people harp on the negative and without people like you acknowledging the excellent work we do with limited resources - we would not be able to continue assisting animals in need!  Kind regards Society Liaison Unit National Council of SPCAs
