Imperative to be kind to animals but OK to be cruel to people!!

I am a single mother with 2 children - not because I could not keep my husband, because he has left earth! So this was no ones fault or choice! It is NOT EASY. We live in a complex and had a lovely dog, a Yorkanese which had a beautiful temperament. He started getting out and I closed up every where where he climbed through but he then started jumping the fence. And I know once a dog starts, he will not stop and I could not close up any more. I had to keep him inside the house day and night, which is cruel, but even more cruel is to tie him up. So I really could not contain him anymore. We decided to take him in but it was so flippen emotional!! Also because of January and school cloths, fees and books, I am praying for payday so I did not have a donation to give. At first the one lady was very understanding and helpful, then it started getting busy and another lady came in, She was cold and to her it is definitely only a work, not a passion. I wanted info on how it works to adopt, which I for sure only would be able to do in March, BUT I want to know so long so that I could plan for this and I decided I will get a puppy for my son as well as for my daughter, but small dogs so that we can make sure they will be happy in our small yard as well as will not be able to get out and it is better for a dog to have a friend as well. So strike 1 - the cold lady whom wanted a donation from me - I gasped because you feel like **** not having it especially in front of all the other people clearly in a better position than I am - looked at me and said, OK no need to perform if you can't and then handled me as if I am a piece of garbage. Strike 2 - the lady first being very friendly and warm - I asked that I still wanted to know how it works to adopt a dog, the costs, etc. - she looked at me as if she is very shocked - again in front of every body - and said "but you have just surrendered your dog" leaving me in the middle of the full office with every body looking at me in dismay. I felt so small! My daughter said" can we just go please?" So it is for sure imperative to be kind to animals but it is no crime to be cruel to people especially if they are financially embarrassed because you may not breath air if you can not pay for the air! Also not cool to surrender your dog, so they will rather have him sneaking out to everywhere and anywhere, picking up flees getting dirty, and getting out into the street and God forbid, being run over - because that happens as we have already experienced that as well in the past. I will go to Wollies or at least somewhere else rather to seek dogs for my children, I will not visit Centurion SPCA ever again, these people works with animals because they have no compassion with people, I hope they have compassion with the animals. This was the last time someone has embarrassed me and my children, it is shameful!!! I don't want a response from them, what done is done, just wanted to let them know that you can not judge if you do not have the facts - words and actions must tie up!
