FEELING BE MISTREATED BY SPCA WELLINGTON INSPECTOR

To whom it may concern: I am Chinese who is an extremely animal *****. My name is Zhong shu ZHU .I began to have some parrots since 2019 (CORVID 19 stayed at home).I HAVE TRYING MY BEST to keep my animals happy on the farm .I do not have kids, so i regard all my animals as my children .I HAVE STRONG FEELING I HAVE BEEN MISTREATED BY INSPECTORS IN Wellington SPCA (because i am CHINESE ?). On 16th July afternoon around 5:00pm in heaven rain 2 inspectors( E.Graham and H Lewis) from WELLINGTON SPCA came to farm and said They received complain about no shelters for animals on farm for 4 dogs, parrots, horses. actually, we only have 3 dogs (dogs belong the farm ,but they are fed by me. the parrots belong to me the horses belong the tenants), so from this point I can see the complainer was not very accurate. they spent around 30 seconds on dogs .even she only saw 2 dogs ,then she aimed at my parrots . I did respect them , I allowed them into my huge bird aviary (3.2metres wide.3m high.10m length total 96cubic meters with 14 parrots ,so every parrots have space around 6.86cubic meters . and 2.7m+1.4m+0.75m*4+1.5m+1m+0.3m*10+1.1m*1.1m(platform)=14.8m perch so every parrot has over 1m perch) EVEN they did not sanitize their feet. Just inside the aviary the male inspector H L suddenly took the camera to take photos of my every species parrots ONE BY ONE (macaws. umbrella ****atoo, eclectus...). I felt quite astonished , said: sorry , you said you are coming for shelter, but why you take the photos of shelter but take the photos of my birds one by one? i do not like that .It might cause *******.( i meant if people put the parrots photos on social media or showed friends or whatapp on the phones . some photos can show the location ,it might cause ******* . it did happen on tourist taking photos of rhino in national park and put the photos on face book then it brought poacher).the female inspector E.G suddenly took back the camera from H.L , and said : sorry ,i took the photos for my personal use, but we are not *******! I think she misunderstood my sentences. then we went to another bird aviaries' asked me how often you cleaned the bird aviary , i answered 1-2times /week ,and she suddenly saw there was a sun conure the neck part lost some feather. but the plumule already grows back. she said you need go to see vet .and do you know which vet for bird is? *** vet in ***area is very good vet for birds Dr.**** is very good doctor.( I have been the vet before ,I have my personal opinion ) I told her :parrots lost feather because lots of reasons ,some because lost partner, some because of depression, some because of virus or insects .some because fighting with each other .my sun conure definitely because of depression. not because of virus, insects, otherwise it will effect others .she did not answer and point to a cage with moustache parrots. she said your all other cages have shelters, only this one do not have, i answered :because they never been inside ,and only chewing the box. and box is not food grade. she said oh you must put one in , she pointed rainbow lorikeet and asked : what is the name of the bird , they are so beautiful. i said they are rainbow lorikeet .then we walked back house. She said i saw you only feed the birds sunflowers seeds ,i said definitely not . every day I or my lady spend more than one hour to chop at least 4-5 vegetable and fruit to feed them :apple , carrot,beetroot ,fresh vegetable, tomato AVI.PLUS COMPLETE PARROT MIX( she took photos of AVI PLUS) and I cook corn ,oats, beans with a huge pot then be seperated as small bottles. put them into freezer. so i can use one by one pre day(there is a camera in the kitchen to prove every day the job),she asked : do you have traveling cage? I said " yes ,several " then I brought a very decent one for her , but she even not have a look .and she began to write warning: 1 cleaning cages.2 go to vet with sun conure within 7 days 3, moustache parrot needs box in side.4 put more perches and ROPES in big bird avairy.....then she said : please sign here. i was very upset. and answered : i am not going to sign .because i know my sun conure what problem is .:DEPRESSION .it has no virus , no insects. otherwise it will effect others, and if I went to vet, then the doctor would do virus test, blood test, Before that I need go inside bird aviary to catch it and put into travel cage and drive around over one hour to vet, then doctor will put it into a lots of tests. it will bring lots of stress to the poor bird, I can see its plumule is growing back, now you force me to go there . virus test, blood test , if it proves i am right not virus no blood problem .your SPCA will donate anything

to me please? She did not answer , just wrote : refuse to sign .and my husband signed. The next day my husband and i called wellington SPCA manager : we need have a meeting , even m y husband is 72 years old disable man he still went SPCA with me in rain . I brought a rotten rope which was chewed by parrots and told the manager: the rope is dangerous toy for big parrots, small parrots might be ok, but macaws easily chew the rope loosen .then rope fiber has gap, that sun conure just along the rope fiber gap chewing stuck its head ,the bird kept on struggle. more struggle , more small rope fiber twined its legs ,and broken one leg .it almost died of stifle .i found it in time and took it to vet, the vet banded the leg and had to put Elizabeth cone on its neck till its leg recovered .after getting rid of cone , it began to lose feather of neck , but now it growing back , but for respecting SPCA and E G Authority I suggested we can wait for 3 months to see if it is getting better , if better , no need go to vet. not because of money, just because of lots of stress will happen on the poor bird during checking process . The manager asked : can I write an email to vet you have been before .I answered : yes . and I gave the name of the vet and even forwarded one of the invoices from vet to manager of SPCA.

From 12th JULY till 29th JULY Capetown had been suffering rainstorm and over 100000 people were effected .ON 30th JULY the sun just showed the face. and the 2 inspectors came in around 2:00pm . i was not there .and SPCA E.G left paper warning again. I am chinese , I could hardly read E G handwriting .after I studied for half day , I red as : the birds are over fed. the cages need to be cleaned ,one cage(2Mhigh1. 2mwidth 1.8mlength) has some rust and the birds in this cage has to be moved to another cage ,and it need to be add a piece roof (the cage already has 3 pieces of roof), and again the big bird aviary need to be put MORE ropes and perches .and my clean lady told her because of heavy rain. we could not clean the bird aviaries often as normal .and I put sign of the cage of ****atiels :which are hatching eggs " please do not feed the birds and touch the cages", However E.G ignored the sign and just pulled out the heavy trayer around 15kg and took OUT the stones on the newspaper with complaining : why put stones inside of bird cage?(1.2mlength.1.7m high.75cm width)? (the stones i put for not letting newspaper fly away from heavy storm) .Underneath the trayer she found some dirty. M LETy clean lady said : because the ****atiels are hatching eggs , so we donot want to disturb them .In my oppion SPCA protect birds rights, so i believe the ****atiels have rights NOT to be DISTURBED when hatching eggs, especially in such bad weather .the reason we clean cages is for they living better but not because of cleaning cage to make humanbeing feel happy but let birds lose the babies .When i came back to farm the ****atiels couple both left breeding box ! So on 31th JULY 11:10am I called SPCA again .I said" i was not on the farm yesterday , I am chinese , I could hardly read EG'S handwriting , but I am eager to listen her advice .I donot know SPCA duty , function , I want to learn. I will spend my time my petrol learning .I definitely protect animal' rights, but not the rights she pushes to animals not the rights i pushes to animals either . I want to have a conversation with E'G please and require the conversation will be recorded."the lady who picked up the phone said :ok ! she will make an appointment for me. Till 2nd August no feedback,I called SPCA at 12:43PM, and 13:59 nobody picked up the phone. I do respect SPCA authority same as i do respect SA court , however even if i was a ******er. SA court still allows me to have a lawyer to speak for me, so FOR the second time SPCA warning , I have something to say:1 My husband does not know birds very well, Since E G kept on pushing cleaning bird cages during heavy rainstorm. my husband mentioned High pressure water gun for cleaning bird avairy for heaven rain in front of E.G ,she thought highly of it , so my husband did buy one for me , however i have different oppion water gun is too loud for birds.and if the water spread on birds, the high pressure will kill them ! so I will only use it during no breeding season. I will clean my bird cages with reasonable time 1-2times/ week,.once I cleaned i will write down the date or even call SPCA to report if E G wants to check immediately. For example i cleaned the NO1.2 3 cage on Saturday , but E.G coming to check on coming Friday, and I could not ask birds no **** no eating food for 5 days ,so some dirty is reasonal .During breeding season , I will reduce times to clean to PROTECT birds breeding and hatch eggs RIGHT .2 I could not put rope in bird aviary because it hurt my sun conure before, but to make E.G happy i will put some aluminum chain looks like rope into big bird avairy.3 you said most cages had EXCESS food. please notice you came to farm at 2:00pm, until 6:30pm it is getting dark ,so birds still have 4.5hours to finish food and in the morning from7:00am to 9:00am they need eat before i feed them again,. or you might tell me how much(GRAM) food i need feed every different species parrots please . I can follow your advice .About faeces I clean once -twice /week, in nature world, the mom birds even eats her baby faeces and new research led by the university of South Australia and published in Biological reviews explains how eating faeces (known as coprophagy)shapes wild birds'digestive tracts(gut biota)enabling them to absord lost or deficients nutrients and adjust to seasonal variations in food..4 You told me several times seriously :IT IS MY JOB! but you asked my clean lady what species birds i WOULD put into the new EMPTY bird aviary in the future?, i donot understand why you are so interested in that? ALSO your job ? I am extremely afraid to put any new birds in that beautiful bird aviary which i spent 3 days doing wall painting with 2 Red-crowned cranes and pine trees.(2.8m high,4.8m length,3m width)5 about sun conure ,on 30th JULY you still push my husband we should go to vet because I only went to vet 1 year ago.What I am going to do is i will count the feather how much growing and write down ,the sun conure is very close to me .it likes flying to my mouth to kiss me. I can prove this point to everyone who visits me. if you really do not trust me and force me to go to vet, ,and i prove my words is right :no virus ,no blood problem , so how you are going to make up the all vet checking brings huge stress for my sun conure? and also you are going to donate the vet fee consult fee, virus test fee ,blood test fee, according my experience it would cost around R4000.6 In my oppion all animals rights should be protected, if you use this top top level to request my sun conure ,(prevent potentially dangerous ) In my oppion all dogs in wellington should be required to have vaccine???7 My husband asked the lady MARLI who charges horses on our farm ,she said when you checked the horses ,you only checked there is water and food, that was all. I cannot understand .Why I was treated top harsh than standard?6 I did move galah to another cage because long term heavy rainstorm makes the cage A LITTLE BIT RUST.I wanted talk to you face to face because i was not on the farm on 30th July .however no feedback and around 6th August you are coming again, I am a person with strong self respect. I donot like to get more and more paper warning from SPCA.I did not earn money or profits from feeding parrots .and my parrots love me dearly they can sign":I believe i can fly .You are beautiful..I LOVE mummy ZHUZHU. Enjoy Oude Wellington.Good luck HAPPY DAY.LOVE YOU,HELLO HOW ARE YOU..."and some CHINESE , when I am in bird avairy, they fly to my shoulder head ,sunconure like kissing me mouth to beak ,some adult parrots(3-4 years old ) still want handfeed by me with s**** ,It shows I am good mom,ANIMALS DO NOT LIE ,I definitely not ABUSE animals. Since I have parrots i never back to CHINA for 5 years. my parents are over 80 years old, they even offer my airtickets . I did not feel guilty about treating my parrots.so I decide to write this letter , please forgive my poor English .
