Euthanasia means driving over animal
SPCA was contacted to assist with euthanasia of terminally ill dog. SPCA driver drove over the dog as he entered the premises

After more extensive investigation it was found that it was SPCA Germiston's driver.
Regarding the accident incident, I got a hold of the owner last night and she explained that she opened the gate for our driver so that he can drive in. The driver proceeded to drive and according to her he drove over the dog as all her dogs were running in front of the vehicle.
According to the driver he did not drive over the dog, but after he drove in the dog had crawled underneath the vehicle. According to him whilst driving in he could see all the dogs and none were in the way of the vehicle. The driver then loaded the dog into the vehicle and brought it back to the office where it was humanely euthanased as per protocol.
Neither the owner nor the driver reported that the dog got injured in the incident.
The owner has since explained that she thought it was an accident and not intentional. This was during an emotional time for her as she made the decision to put her dog down which may have had an influence on how she reacted afterwards. The matter has been resolved between the owner and the Germiston SPCA.
