Durban SPCA indire need for funding

I went to the SPCA at durban, to have my kitty checked. To much of my dismay, they are ill equiped to do a proper check up due to no goverment funding. I was kindly advised by the vet that I should take my kitty to a private vet to get the bloods done and possibly even treatment, which would undoubtedly be expensive. Yet the vast building infrastructure could easily manage several more vets and specialists. It was heart breaking to see the vet was working alone in a large building. the vet was sadened by the state of this supposed animal hospital. He knew there was no aid from the goverment but had no control over the outcome. He clearly loved animals. The SPCA dont even have a decent lab or any equipment whatso-ever except for a basic microscope that one would find in a primary school science lab. They are under paid and over worked which is ususally the opposite in this country. The goverment needs to divert funds immediately and set up a proper lab so they won't need to put-down so many healthy animals due to insufficient funding for food and shelter for these poor animals. They need to be upgraded so that we the public can benefit from affordable health care and this in turn will make animal adoption more favourable and thus leading to fewer animals at the shelter or strays being put-down. The 3 stars is for the vet and staff who has to work in such conditions. It is my humble opinion.
