Do we still have human wright in our land?
Do you guys think the SPCA are there to really help animals or to look after the own benefits? <br> <br> The way I see it they ask you for donations via food, money or help them with volunteering work, to look after the animals, cleaning caches etc.When you visit them, the sort of have an attitude if you don't do things our way we can't help you or you can go to a vet, They said they will help you if you pay x amount towards sterilization of your animal, and x amount to see the vet. You agree because on that stage you just want to help your animal. It doesn't matter if you want your animal to be sterilize or not? There's no choice. I've paid the amount, even though I know I can't really afford it, there's going to be no money for foot or electricity. The service was good, but at the end of the day my dog didn't made it. You phone them to ask for your deposit back, they refuse. I feel that can't be right there was no service delivered to keep that deposit. It's like ******* with your permission. They ask for help, we help them, you ask for help they have their ways of how they want to help you? in this case it's just taking from you with out you doing it willingly? Its not right!!!<br>

Before we respond we would like to give our condolences with the loss of your beloved pet.
Each SPCA is autonomous and responsible for the operations and fundraising of the specific SPCA. Not all SPCAs have animal hospitals or clinics, and therefore your post is general and not applicable to the whole SPCA movement in South Africa, making your post unfair. Please provide us with the details of the SPCA concerned to enable them to respond to you.
We would however like to point out the SPCA is a welfare organisation and does not receive any funding from the government. SPCAs with hospitals and clinics charge the bear minimum to assist the public who cannot afford the services of private veterinarians but at the same time the SPCA is utilising their own funds to assist with this as the amounts charged do not cover all the expenses incurred, which means the SPCA is actually not being supported but rather drained from their funds, therefore the SPCA will only assist people who really cannot afford private veterinary services.
