Disgusting,Rude,****** Service from SPCA Springfield
Very disappointingly experience with the staff at the Springfield Spca My family have a doggie who adopted them.During the thunder storm she either injured herself hiding from the storm or was hurt by somebody. We called the spca to enquire if they could please transport Bettsy for treatment to the spca The reason we could not take bettsy to the spca was because we were afraid of the extent of the injury and didnt want to cause her any pain The spca did not want to assist to pick her up,and we were told the spca in springfield only pick up strays for euthanasia. There is a lack of empathy,a severe lack of humanity and a lack of compassion. If people have animals that require assistance but have no vehicle this means the spca would not asssit. The inspectors came out we had to follow them to the spca and payment was done.Bettsy had to stay at spca and i was informed she will be home tomorrow the 30th of decemeber We were also advised we need to arrange transport for her The staff were so unfriendly in the clinic and on the phone I was not allowed to ask questions,i was not allowed to speak to the vet or anybody at the clinic.Bettsy is not a stray she just required medical assistance.I have been under the impression animals deserve a second chance at life only if circumstances are such that there is no cure or way forward then is euthanasia considered. We were asked by the inspector why didnt we take bettsy to the spca as i stated we were afraid of lifting her due to her jnjury and if we could cause her pain we are not equipped to know how to deal with an injured pet.I happen to be a feral caregiver for the past 6 years on the lower south coast i feed, sterlise, vaccinate, deworm and each of my ferals have tick and flea meds administered The south coast spca, management, field officers, inspectors and clinic staff are an example to many. They symbolise what spca really means and stands for.Always going out of there way to assist at any time Spca springfield your staff at the clinic, field officers inspectors require skills in compassion, empathy, and humanity. The public depend on your service we cant be afraid to contact the spca due to the high level of rudeness We stated bettsy is not a stray she has an injury assist her so she can return home we are known to pay vet bills and the level of work we do on our own is known by many organisations. We dont depend on donations i am not an npo or ngo Please treat the public with same amount of respect you would expect Assisting an animal and giving them a second chance to life is the most important factor When a pet is sick or injured the owner is stressed from the outset knowing our pets are going to be treated and recover is why we turn to vets and the spca We look forward to picking bettsy up tomorrow, and her safe return home.Ronel Naidoo
Our Inspectorate liaised with the owner of the dog and 2 other people on the 29th December. Our calls are recorded and the relevant communications have been reviewed. None of our staff were in any way rude or ****** as alleged. On the contrary, it was our staff who were on the receiving end of rude and abusive conduct.
The SPCA is a non-profit organisation. We do not offer private transportation services to and from any veterinary facilities. This is the duty of the owner. Apart from investigating and when necessary, prosecuting those who do not provide proper care to their animals, our resources are used to assist animals (stray/abandoned) who do not have owners to take responsibility for them.
We assisted with collection of the dog even though this is not in accordance with our protocols. The owner of the dog stated repeatedly that he had no transport but subsequently followed our Inspector to the SPCA.
Our veterinarian has reported that the owner was not pleased when told to arrange collection for the pet after the theatre procedure was completed. Again, it is the responsibility of the owner to ensure all necessary steps are taken to care for their animals.
