Disgusted.

SPCA Roodepoort Krugersdorp you guys are disgusting!!!! I called numerous times to tell you the owner would be coming in this morning. That dog was fine yesterday, she wasn't lethargic, she ate and she was even playing with my boys. You definitely put the dog down upon arrival, something ya'll do so easily. I spoke to Simon, Walter and lady at reception who reassured that wouldn't be the case. Suddenly she died this morning and the owner can't see his pet that he's been looking for since the 26th October. You guys are the pits!!!!! Don't understand how you even sleep at night.

Roodepoort SPCA's Response:
The dog was collected on the 13th of November. The dog was infested with ticks, they hung on like g*****.

On admission to the SPCA she was dipped.

The following morning at 7am she was found motionless in her bed, her gums snow white. The kennel was littered with ticks.

Due to the severity of her condition, she was humanely euthanise to end her suffering. There was no owner or a lost report.

The treatment for a dog with severe bi****y is expensive. Blood transfusion costs a fortune.

The owner arrived at the SPCA at 10:30am. The proof of ownership was a photo of the dog chained, no kennel no water. The chain was attached to her neck with a padlock. This is how she spent her life CHAINED. The owner should be prosecuted as he contravened the law.

My staff are far from disgusting or the pits, animal abusers are.

We sleep well at night knowing that we have rescued thousands of animals from situations where they are abused, tortured, and starved.

It is easy to accuse without the facts.

Facts to educate yourself on the disease.

Bi****y is a serious tick-borne disease which affects the red blood cells. Ticks transmit tiny infectious parasites into their host’s bloodstream where they multiply. During this continuous multiplication process many more red blood cells are invaded and eventually destroyed resulting in anaemia. This disease is troublesome as the clinical signs may be acute with sudden death within as little as a day.
