On 11 Dec 2017 my 8, 4 week old lab x pitbull pups were surrendered by the person taking care of them as I was overseas for 3 weeks. This person was my mom. It was very stressful to for her and out of complete impulse and not thinking clearly she surrendered my pups over to the spca. . .without my knowledge . She was promised she could come see them the next day. The next day I found out and immediately tried to explain the situation to the manager. He was rude and abusive. I explained that these pups are legally mine and anything my mom signed was null and void as she has no authority over my puppies. I tried my best to work with the manager , I didn't want my pups at the spca especially after all the terrible thongs I have heard about they way they treat animals and in all honesty I loved my pups so much. I pleaded with the manager to release my pups into the care of my personal vet. He refused. I asked him if he needs funding to look after my pups... still refused. My mom then realized what a mistake she made and the very next day signed an affidavit stating in writing the pups were not hers. And of course the manager did not amaccept it. I was on the phone with my mom during her encounter with the manager. And heard everything that transpired. My mom is 64 years old. She was sitting on a chair in his office and refused to leave until she knew my pups were safe. Never in my life have I heard a man verbally abuse a women like this. He then got one of his staff to record this incident. He picked my mother's chair up while she was sitting on it. i was on the phone and i heard her sobbing and screaming out of pain. He dug his knee into her back, then lifted up the chair with her on it and in self defense my mom scratched his saying "dont touch me". The manager then attempted to file assault charges against my 64 year old mom. And in writing confirmed he would hand over the video footage to the police... still has not happened.
Since the day my healthy beautiful pups were surrendered to sandton spca not one person in the public has seen them. I took them to court while i was overseas and managed to get an urgent interdict forcing the manager not to give away any of my pups until i was back. As i arrived back I met my attorney and the manager and of course he was rude and abusive. He would not even allow me to see my pups.
Since then i have sent numerous people every week As well as when i was over seas and even the staff just say "pups are not here" . They also will not confirm they have been adopted.
My friends then app**** to adopt some of my pups and were denied. Manager told one of my friends he cannot adopt as he is acossiated with me. Bare in mind my pups have still not been seen. They have never moved to the kennels. . I was nrverplannong on keeping all 8 pups but I wanted to choose homes for them. This has been a nightmare and I don't sleep at night because management refuses to tell me where my pups are.
So much funding has been cut from the spca so it baffles me that the manager refuses to co operate. If they want what is best for the animal why not just give my pups back to me.
I truelly do both know how someone so nasty should be allowed a position to work with animals.
I am taking further measures.

Best regards,
The Sandton SPCA acknowledges the complaint. It is unfortunate that the writer does not give an accurate account of the events that transpired. The 8 puppies were lawfully signed over to the Sandton SPCA as unwanted because the puppies could not be supported financially, this while the owner was enjoying a luxury holiday abroad and abandoning the puppies in the care of her financially struggling mother. The owner took the Sandton SPCA to the High Court on an urgent basis and her legal team withdrew the application because they did not comply with the court rules – no interdict was granted and both parties were responsible for their own costs. The writer then app**** to adopt the puppies from the Sandton SPCA but was untruthful on her application forms and therefore was declined. The Sandton SPCA acted in good faith and in the best interest of the puppies.
