******** handover by NSFAS

I have a student loan with NSFAS that I have been paying religiously every month without fail. Recently I have been handed over to a debt collection company namely MBD without my knowledge and have been receiving phone calls and messages from them that I need to settle my account with them instead of paying my NSFAS account as I have been doing all this time.

I find this ******** as my signed agreement is with NSFAS and up until a time that I receive written communication from NSFAS that I am handed over (for what reason I do not know as I have been paying) I will not pay a single cent to MBD as I have no agreements with them.

When I tried calling the NSFAS call centre I found that the call centre was closed due to a strike of some sorts. My husband assisted me in sending them an email regarding this situation on 23/10/2019 trying to find out when I was handed over and why there was no attempt made to contact me. A follow up email was sent on 29/10/2019 asking them for a response but still nothing. On 18/12/2019 did we receive a response from Standiwe Mzamo at NSFAS stating that they will not assist third parties, this being my law-full husband that I am married to in community of property, unless written consent has been given by myself. I sent an email on my own accord to them on the exact same day, 18/12/2019 asking about their third party, MDB that I was handed over to without any written communication from them and up to date I have not received any feedback from them whatsoever.

WHY HAVE I BEEN HANDED OVER WITHOUT BEING CONTACTED FIRST WHEN I HAVE BEEN PAYING MY ACCOUNT EVERY MONTH?????
