unfair Granting of Bursaries

<p>My sisters daugter app**** twice for a bursary in 2016 and again beginning of the year 2017.</p> <p>She is a student at Stellenbosch University.</p> <p>Her mother earns R500 per week and she is 1 of 3 children</p> <p>She is a good student but has to give up her studies because they can't afford to pay for it anymore.</p> <p>After wasting endless money on phone calls, emails we found out on 01.08.2017 that she didn't qualify for a bursary because NSFAS ran out of funding.</p> <p> </p> <p>My question:</p> <p>How is the criteria monitored that students this poor can't get help but those driving cars on universitites gets funding.</p> <p>Why after more than 7 months does NSFAS not make an effort to help those in need.</p> <p> </p> <p>We expect nothing for free but we expect that funding is given to the poorest of the poor and that the criteria be justified upon the income/non income of the parents. </p> <p> </p> <p>I feel that the criteria is only met for certain groups and i am utterly unhappy that our child do not have the opportunity as promised by our government.</p> <p> </p> <p>I need feedback. I cannot afford to buy R100 - R200 airtime anymore just to hear bad news. </p> <p> </p> <p>I need feedback ASAP.</p> <p> </p>
