So I've had a wonderful experience with NSFAS. We're currently trying to settle the balance (i.e. give money back) into a government-funded entity and for some reason, they don't seem to be responding. I refuse to give additional details because I feel reaching out to collections should be incentive enough for them to respond. I'm not someone who rants politically - ever, but this is worth it. It ****es me off how these entities are so poorly managed. I understand that R60000.00 is probably not "worth" it because there are "bigger fish to fry". But it's pathetic to see poor systems in place to collect the debt. Maybe they are understaffed and persons currently employed have given up hope on ever collecting funds. Beautiful work has been done on the website, but all I really want from NSFAS now is to respond to emails where people are willing to find out more about collections. Some sample filters you could use in your email search bar are ("account details", "settle", "repayments").
If only there were some way to create labels to tell me which emails to intelligently classify emails that would be more beneficial... oh wait there are many companies willing to apply predictive modelling to help help me do this job. There are open source tools where people are willing to help empower NSFAS employees and train them to take ownership. There are BOT models to put in place to give the NSFAS the ability to serve themselves... but how do we get there?? I guess that will always be a mystery to some skilled workers.
It's small price to pay for a good systematic approach in servicing customers and collecting debt. Well, I hope somehow you find the mail where we are willing to settle the funds. May the odds be ever in your favour.
