Absolutely Horrible and Ineffective Regulatory Body

The NRCS is the National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications. Their "board" sits every quarter to make decisions about items placed under embargo, i.e. where they require a certificate that cannot be produced by the cargo holder. That, in itself, is a disgraceful methodology. Who sits every quarter? For heaven's sake.

As if that is not enough, attempting correspondence is like sending a letter via the SA postal service or taking out a Telkom service. Meanwhile, whatever money you have invested sits and gathers mould without any news or indication of how long this organisation would tarry before gracing itself to assist you as the business in distress. They are very quick, albeit inconsistent in their application, to embargo goods at customs, give you multiple pages on the jail sentences they are able to impose and then drops off the map. If the process takes long it's one thing, but not being able to tell one when the next quarterly sitting is to take place is ridiculous. I have asked about five times, no answer.

I see many complaints on HelloPeter about LOA application horrors, so I am wondering if this organisation go by damned if you don't, damned if you try, damned whatever. It makes doing business in ZA very difficult. If these guys were just a little more proactive I could have had my problems sorted by now, but alas I digress.
