R15000 Deposit Gone

On 7 February 2017 I bought a brand new Datsun Go from Northwest Nissan.

3 Days Later (just over 300km on the ODO) Later I returned the vehicle because it was quite hard to shift it to second gear,

I was then told by the mechanic that it might get better as the car runs in and parts get worked into each other.

In March I took the vehicle back again (about 3000km on ODO) and complained as it got to the frustrating point because when in traffic and the light goes green then I pull away and it then takes about 5 seconds to get it into 2nd gear otherwise I have to force it in and then it makes a noise.

The workshop manager John was then at the counter where I was and heard me complaining so he offered to take a look,

We both got into the vehicle but I suggested I drive first to show what happens after driving around the block John took over the driving

and .... He really didn’t drive appropriately he raced the car through its gears and at one point he needed to turn around and in that time he put the car into reverse while it was still moving forward resulting in a screeching sound from the gearbox.

we then returned to the parking lot and he told me that he doesn’t feel anything wrong and that I was putting too much pressure on the gear lever.

I then Left the dealership in a very bad mood because of the way my new car was driven and that they keep telling me its nothing.

End of May (about 4500km on ODO) I decided to take the vehicle to Clearwater Nissan and the workshop foreman took my car for a drive and he told me that he feels something is wrong and I must book the vehicle in so that the gearbox can be removed and repaired.

A few days later I decided to phone Nissan South Africa to tell them my situation and that I was not happy for my new cars gearbox to be taken out

(I was happy that at least someone realised I was telling the truth after so long)

The lady listened to my story and within a few minutes I received a Call from Northwest Nissan Telling me that they would make me a Deal

The deal was that they would settle my current vehicle and then I re-finance a Datsun Go+, I asked if I couldn’t trade it for another Go but they said no the deal is only if I take the Go+ and then they would transfer everything from my old vehicle to my new one

When the deal was done I realised that my R15 000 Deposit wasn’t transferred to my new vehicle

I then Called Nissan South Africa again and after ending the call I received a Call from Northwest Nissan again

The Manager Hennie asked me what’s the story of the Deposit and I explained myself and his response was "You will never see that R15 000"

When I asked why he said that I have used the vehicle for 6 months and that carries costs and he said I could go to whoever I want but that just the way it is

Nissan South Africa phoned me later that week explaining that Each Nissan dealership are individually owned and that they could not do anything about my situation so my response was

IF NORTHWEST NISSAN PICKED UP THE PROBLEM WHEN I BROUGHT IN THE VEHICLE THE FIRST TIME I WOULDNT HAVE LOST THE WHOLE R15 000 AND I WOULD HAVE PAID ANY USAGE FEE BECAUSE IT WAS ONLY 3 DAYS

SO, TO EVERYONE OUT THERE IF YOU WANT TO BUY A NISSAN DO CONCIDER EVERYTHING YOU READ ABOVE AND THINK ABOUT WHICH DEALERSHIP YOU DO BUSINESS WITH.
