PAID FOR A MAJOR CAR SERVICE AND NOT MUCH WAS DONE.
Northway advertised a special on Hyperli . I purchased a voucherfor R940 for a major car service and an electronic diagnostic assessment. I booked in for Friday the 9th of February 2018.I paid to have the following done but only got my oil changed and service book stamped. My 2 tyres were flat which I only discovered when i stopped at the garage to fuel up.on HYPERLI, This was what was promised: oNew engine oil oNew oil filter oNew spark plugs (Not platinum) oNew air filter oAnti-freeze o49-point safety check oRoad test oEngine steam clean oWash and vacuum oResetting of service lights oStamping of service books Electronics diagnostics assessment: oLatest electronic assessment equipment utilised oAn accurate assessment that highlights any mechanical or electrical faults you might have oAble to test 90% of vehicles on SA roads oAble to test some imported vehicles oPrint out on fault codes given
I have taken this up with Northway only to be told to refer back to the voucher which they did not bother explain when i asked. below is the email i sent and their response:
Hi Isabel
Please read the advert and voucher again which spells out exactly what is done as per each voucher.
A cambelt replacement is definitely not included as part of a service.
With regards to the broken spring in right rear brake drum. As an inspection on the rear brake condition, the drums are removed. You will notice on the invoice under notes that the brake spring kits needs to be replaced. That is one of the springs in the kit that was broken. This was noted on the job card as well as the invoice.
I trust that this clarifies your concerns.
Regards
Adrian

Hi Nirasha
I trust you are well. I write this email with great concern and hope that you can clarify a few things for me.
Please advise what exactly was done on the car when I brought it in for Major service and electronic diagnostics.
Yesterday there was a resistance in trying to reverse the car which was followed by a crunching sound. I immediately called the mechanic and he found some stuff broken in the right Rear tyre which he indicated that they were loose already and by the looks of it, the one spring fell inside and instead of trying to extract it, whoever was working on the decided to put a new smaller spring in. I have attached pics of the items that were not put back properly when my car was worked on.
I also consulted my mechanic and was advised that a major service entailed replacement of things such as cam belt kit etc but what I got from you guys was a long list. What exactly did I pay for? I paid R940 and From my vantage it looks like not much was done which is really concerning and unacceptable.
Please advise so I know way forward.
