Service Department lax attitude

Out of a misplaced sense of loyalty, and maybe because I am a creature of habit, I insist on having my Mini Cooper serviced at the same dealership that I purchased it from, in this case Nothcliff Auto (the fact that I work in Centurion, less than 1 km away from Leo Haese Mini, make me even more angry because I really need to plan for these service and maintenance visits).

I booked my car in for a service on the 9th of January, while I was still on leave, so that I could drop my car off and spend however long it took walking around Cresta, having a coffee (you get the idea?) My car was ready as promised, beautifully cleaned and waiting for me when I got back, On my way home, not even 10 minutes later, a warning comes up on my centre consol - "Drive Train, Continue the journey at a moderate speed. Full performance not available. Have problem checked by service." I immediately called Kim (who is not at fault here!) who told me that the warning was nothing if I still had full power, which I did, and I should bring it back whenever possible to have it reset, but it should reset itself once I had parked for the night, which it did. Less than a week later (Thursday the 18th), same story, so I took the car in, waited for 30 minutes or so for the technician to have a look (or reset) and was told that there is no issue, but I need to bring it in for a "software upgrade" - this may take a while, so book it in which I did, for Wednesday the 24th. Once again, Kim assured me that there was no problem with the warning coming up, but if I loose power, I should call her.

Friday the 19th, after the warning appearing and disappearing, appearing and disappearing, it came on at 3pm accompanied by a loss of power! I immediately called Kim, and she told me that I should bring it in immediately. I explained that I can't just bring it in a leave it without a specified timeline, an that I would need a courtesy car - she said she'd see what she could do...

Today, Monday the 22nd I drove, my horribly underpowered Mini, to Northcliff Auto only to be told that they cn not give me a time as to when the work would be completed, and that there is no courtesy car available should the work not be completed today - not on!

Surely this issue should have been picked up while the vehicle was being serviced less that two weeks ago? How can the software upgrade not have a timeline attached to it? How can you leave a loyal and frequent customer (we have purchased two brand new Minis from Northcliff Mini over the past 3 years!) high and dry with very vague explanations?

I must reiterate that the service coordinator, Kim has been great, but is unfortunately only as good as the team she is representing.

Northcliif Auto Mini - not good enough!
