BMW Motor Plan won't cover damage and neither will dealership that sold me the car.

I have had my BMW X1 for nearly five months now and a little over a week ago the car wouldn't start. I was not even worried because it is still under a Motor Plan and I was confident BMW would sort me and it out, pronto. I did not even think to contact SA Motorcorporation, where I purchased the vehicle sometime in August. A technician was sent over, but couldn't get the car to start. Then it was later towed to the my nearest BMW dealership, Northcliff Auto.

Things went downhill from there. Appearently my car won't start because of "water ingress" and the BMW won't take responsibility. They want me to pay around R29 000 to get the car fixed!! I asked for a full report of how the water could have made it into my car. I still have nothing as I write this. I was briefly shown the report when I went there in person last Friday, but the manager refused for me to get a copy, claiming it is only for internal use.

There seems to be a suggestion I drove through a puddle of water or that the recent heavy rains had something to do with it. I refute this because during the floods I was not in the country and I was out of town the second time around - and this was in October and November. It's JANUARY. I also spent most of my time at home during the festive season as my wife was due to give birth and would not have been out and about driving in the rain!

In hoping the dealership would help me with this issue seeing that I could still activate my CPA rights, I reached out to SA Motorcorporation and they simply told me I have had the car for too long for them to get involved. There, that is my story and I am still battling to get repairs done. This is not an insurance issue, and I therefore expect BMW to fix this.

I am taking all options and legal recourse availabe to me. I expected a lot more from a premium brand like BMW, instead I am left with a R29 000 debt and no car, while still paying instalments.

Shocking.

Yours in fighting ************ car dealers and manufacturers

Mazola

@superjourno
