DISGUSTING ACCOMMODATION

I would like to formally lodge a complaint about a lodge that we stayed at recently that has a 4-star rating from the Toursim Grading Council of South Africa. We chose this lodge as it was 4-star rated, free breakfast and close to Monte Casino. We travelled from KwaZulu Natal and I would very much like to be refunded if at all possible.

We booked this Lodge on-line as we were going to a show at Monte Casino on the 18th December 2019 for one night. We were 3 ladies travelling together. We had booked one room together as we are family.

The place in question is the Norscot Manor Guest Lodge in Fourways near Monte Casino.

My complaints are as follows:

1. On arrival it was noted that the entrance is placed very dangerously, being situated right next to a major intersection. 2. The reception area was very tatty with the receptionists chair upholstery peeling (I should have suspected something then). 3. We were escorted to our room but on going down a passage the door to one of the guests rooms was wide open onto the passage and we could all see the occupants lying in bed in various stages of dress at 15.00 in the afternoon. This did not look very nice indeed for the 3 of us walking past. Unacceptable for a 4-star rating. 4. On arrival in the room we wished to freshen up. There were only 2 towels available. Unacceptable for a 4-star rating. 5. We also noticed that there were only 2 glasses and 2 cups and saucers. Unacceptable for a 4-star rating. 6. We then requested reception to rectify this matter. They attended to the matter but just walked into the room without knocking. Unacceptable for a 4-star rating. 7. The double bed in the room only had a ½ a headboard making it extremely uncomfortable and totally ridiculous. Unacceptable for a 4-star rating. 8. The kettle in the room is old and stained and we did not wish to use this kettle as we had no idea what may have been previously boiled in this disgusting kettle. Unacceptable for a 4-star rating. 9. The room was crowded with furniture. Unacceptable for a 4-star rating. 10. The room is very dated and old – not freshly decorated. Unacceptable for a 4-star rating. 11. There was a hole in the wall in the room. Unacceptable for a 4-star rating. 12. The plush bath advertised was filthy dirty with a rim from a previous person’s bathing still around the bath. Unacceptable for a 4-star rating. 13. There were stains all over the filthy dirty carpet. Unacceptable for a 4-star rating. 14. There were old unused electrical fittings on the wall. Unacceptable for a 4-star rating. 15. We were shocked that Norscot Manor Lodge B & B Charged EXTRA if you wished to have a breakfast. All that was on offer was assorted melon, yoghurt and toast. Unacceptable for a 4-star rating.
